Deciding to rebrand your business is never an easy decision but as you probably already know, last year we decided to rebrand the business from “BBQ’s and More” to “Autentico”, as Autentico’s dining experience is so much more than just BBQ’s, and we wanted a name which truly reflected this.
It has been an amazing process, at times scary and frustrating, at other times exciting and visionary, but we feel that with “Autentico”, we now have a brand which reflects who we are, what we do, and what our menu offers.
Our menu is a fusion of Spanish, Greek and Cypriot style cooking. Jorge’s cooking originates from the northwest of Spain in the region of Castilla y Leon and was passed down from his Grandmother Maria, who was a cook by profession. Melani gets her authentic Greek Cypriot Cooking expertise from her parents who ran a restaurant in Edgware. Together, over the years we have practised and refined our culinary skills, pairing traditional Greek Cypriot barbequed food and mezes with Spanish Paella, Tapas and other home recipes to create Autentico’s unique and delicious authentic Mediterranean Menu.
To celebrate our successful rebrand, on the 28th of May we held an exciting relaunch event in Harpenden for Event Planners, Wedding Planners, businesses in the events industry and some local businesses in Harpenden, St Albans and Luton who have helped us since our early days.
Our relaunch event also created an opportunity to raise money for charity and so we were able to support one of our favourite Charities, Happy Days Children’s Charity based locally but creating over 25,000 special opportunities a year for disadvantaged and disabled children throughout the UK through a Silent Auction and Tombola.
Guests were welcomed to the Autentico relaunch event with traditional Spanish wine and our signature Meze Tapas fusion including Serrano Ham, Spanish tortilla and Spanish Manchego cheese with membrillo (quince jelly).
There was then an opportunity for our guests to enjoy the beautiful sunshine whilst watching a fantastic traditional Paella demonstration. At Autentico we love to create “food theatre” and so our Paella demonstration hosted by Bianca, gave guests the chance to watch how a traditional Paella is made in our large Paella Pans (Paellera, sourced directly from Spain), from the base sauce (Sofrito) and traditional Spanish rice being added, all the way through to the final ingredients like Seafood, Chicken and Vegetables finishing off the Paella to create a truly mouth-watering tasting dish.
Alongside mingling and networking with friends and business associates, more Food Theatre ensued alongside the Paella with our authentic Greek-Cypriot Rotisserie BBQ cooking Souvla Lamb and Chicken. As many men love to be king of the BBQ, our male guests took a particular interest in watching the meat is cooked rotisserie style where the meat is basted in its juices as it turns so when it comes off, not only does it have that lovely BBQ aroma but it’s tender and succulent, and most importantly does not go dry like on a more traditional BBQ. Meanwhile, promotional Photographer Kenny Durbin from KJ Durbin Photography ensured that the event was recorded by taking some wonderful promotional pictures for us.
With all of the cooking well underway, guests were seated and Jorge, co-owner of Autentico told our story from passion to plate for those attending and shared some of the different ways that we work with individuals and event organisers including corporate event catering, Home and Dinner Party Catering Paella and BBQ Big Pan Displays and our Paella and BBQ Home Delivery options. Additionally, Rob from Happy Days Charity shared about the amazing work that the charity does with disadvantaged, disabled and sick children. Additionally, professional Magician Adam Templeton astounded and entertained our guests at their tables by performing close up magic tricks which left his audience amazed and seriously impressed by his magical abilities!
This all led up to the main event, the moment people were waiting for, a chance to tuck in and sample the Paella and BBQ food which our guests had watched being cooked. We served a Seafood and a Vegetarian Paella (unheard of in Spain!) alongside our Souvla Lamb and Chicken and traditional Greek Halloumi and Salad and watched excitedly as our guests tucked in. Well, they weren’t disappointed. It was clear that everyone loved the food!
Comments on the food from our guests included “superb, brilliant, amazing, awesome, so delicious, lovely food, can’t recommend enough, definitely gets a big thumbs up from me” so we like to think that we delivered! The lack of left overs was hopefully testament to how much everyone enjoyed their food!
As guests consumed more wine and rested from their lunch we prepared a whole host of delectable desserts including Mahelepi – one of our favourite desserts made with fig syrup, rose syrup and pistachio, originating from the Middle East (Lebanon) and very popular in Cyprus. We also served Lokmades, traditional Cypriot Donuts in Honey and Galaktoboureko – a Greek dessert made with a custard in a crispy filo pastry shell.
To close the event Rob from Happy Days announced that thanks to Autentico offering a week’s accommodation in Spain and a traditional Paella experience for 10 and some other fantastic prizes for a Silent Auction and Tombola, meaning that the event raised over £1300 for Happy Days children’s Charity which we were so delighted with! We also thanked our wonderful guests for coming and upon leaving guests received a promotional gift as a Thank You for attending our event.
That just left us to do all of the clearing up and to reflect on a truly wonderful event and how lucky we are to be supported by individuals and others in the business community.
Our relaunch event was such a wonderful success and we loved spending the afternoon with so many fantastic businesses and giving them a taste of our unique style of Spanish, Greek and Cypriot Cooking, You can check out their reviews and comments via our Facebook Page. https://www.facebook.com/Autentico.Dining/.
